Bible X

Saturday, October 8, 2011

Okay, so many of you have asked about the Bible studies we do in our women's small group. We typically do a series that has video teaching along with a workbook to work through.

Our small group has gotten quite large over the past year, so a couple of weeks ago, we decided to split into 3 smaller groups. There is one group doing a book study over Francis Chan's book Forgotten God which is about the Holy Spirit. Another group is doing a study over the book of Philippians, and my group is doing a study called Bible X.

Bible X is a Biblical study resource that was created by Lifechurch.tv to give people a better understanding of the main themes and overall story of the Bible. I am only a few weeks into it, but I am learning so much!

Here is what http://www.biblex.com/ says about what BibleX is:
This BibleX study exists for anyone who wants to become more familiar with the Bible and understand it in a more complete way. To gain a more detailed understanding of this Study, complete the Introduction Module. This module will give you an idea of what this Study will cover, and how it will enrich your understanding of Scripture.

The 4 goals of BibleX are to:
Now let me say this: In comparison to other video studies I've done, the videos are highly informative, but not hugely entertaining. There is no one person who leads the videos. They are strictly content based.

Here is how Bible X works:

  • To get started, go to http://www.biblex.com/ and click on the button that says: Experience the Bible.
  • You'll then watch the Introduction Module video that you can find at http://www.biblex.com/get-started/introduction/session-1/
  • Each session has a short (less than ten minutes) video, scripture to read, and questions to answer.
  • There is a study guide on each page where you can follow along.
If you want to know and understand more of the Bible, BibleX is the perfect resource for you.

It doesn't matter if you have limited time or limited previous knowledge of the Bible. You'll only need about an hour a week to read the scriptures and answer the questions, and then you'll have to watch a ten minute video online for free.

It's really simple, and extremely beneficial. I would love for those of you who want to start studying the Bible using Bible X to be able to do it as a group. It's important that we learn in community. Any suggestions or ideas on how we could do that? I really don't have any ideas, but I think it would be awesome...even if we only met together online every other week or even once a month. Maybe group Skype? Something on Google+?

I guess I need to know if you're in? If you want to know more about God's Word, it's time. This is perfect for you.

If you want to work together on getting connected with others studying God's Word through BibleX once a month, comment below and let us know your ideas. If you're going to check it out, and see if it's right for you, let us know below!

To find out more about BibleX, go to http://www.biblex.com/ and have a look around. Have fun!
