Busy, Sickly, and Full of Gratitude

Monday, November 4, 2013

We've been busy and happy and even a little sickly, but it's amazing how a little time away from social media will make you feel free.

I don't know how to explain it. The first few days were nearly torturous. Isn't that horrible? But they were. I guess that's what happens when you walk away from an addiction. I had no idea I was so reliant on social media. But I was.

Anyways, we had just about the busiest weekend we've had in a long time with a Grace Adele show on Saturday and then a 3 brand Open House on Saturday night and then Wyatt's 1st birthday on Sunday....it was a pretty cram packed weekend.

I spent last night waking up every couple hours with Luke....poor guy, and he was still feeling puny today. So needless to say, it's been busy.

Oh and we had a chicken get stolen (and thus eaten) by a coyote today. That's not fun. And a couple other not fun things were discovered today (more on that later0. But despite the busyness and the not fun happenings, I found myself so incredibly grateful today. And maybe it was because I didn't have anyone to complain to (via social media). Or maybe it was because sometimes we have days where we can look beyond unfortunate things and choose to be grateful anyways.

I have nothing to be ungrateful for. Not a single thing. I'm even grateful for sick days when I get to snuggles my kiddos a little more.

So I guess that's all. I'm just really, really grateful. Incredibly grateful.

And here's a little sneak peek of Wyatt's 1st birthday....

And I know you peeps need to know what planner to buy. I've got 6 of them sitting in my office....it's coming....this week....

Happy Monday Ya'll.

A 2nd 1st day....

Tuesday, September 24, 2013

I know I said I was going to start going to bed at 10:00. I'm working on it. I really am. This week has been a little abnormal as we've prepped for our first day of homeschool....which is tomorrow.

All 3 of us are excited and nervous at the same time. I can't wait to see what this year holds for us.

Watch out 1st grade....here we come.

Happy Saturday

Saturday, September 21, 2013

Late last night I cancelled our Director training that was originally scheduled for this morning. I picked 2 weekends in a row and it turns out that everyone can come next weekend, and no one could come this weekend.

That means more prep time for me, and a great Saturday with the family.

We went down to Moore this morning for a precious and very special 2 year old birthday party for sweet Lucy.

We then headed to Bricktown for a yummy lunch and a trip to Bass Pro Shop.

For the record, those beers were not theirs (or ours). We moved to a table in the sun when some other people left, and the beers stayed.

And this is Wyatt's new favorite face. We all crack up when he does it, so he does it over and over again.

And this just makes my heart happy.

Happy Saturday ya'll.

Grandma's 80th birthday, wrestling matches, and matching t-shirts.

Saturday, September 7, 2013

I didn't write yesterday. There are few things worth taking a night off for, but family is definitely one of them.

Last night we drove to Hobart, Oklahoma to celebrate Grandma Dalke's 80th birthday....well, maybe I should back up. Before we did that, I spent a few good hours at Addison's school helping set up for a Grandparent's Day Tea.

It was a lot of hard work, but we had so many moms who helped out, and the event was a success. There was a second when I thought we were going to run out of cookies (we had 300 of them), but we made it.

The kids performed, "If you'd Like to Swing on a Star," and got to show their grandparents' their classrooms. There were a lot of people there, but it was a fun afternoon.

As soon as we cleaned up at school, we headed to Hobart. We knew we were going to miss Grandma's surprise party, so we planned to meet everyone at the stadium for my father in law's first football game as the head coach of the Hobart bearcats. (and no, I'm not sure if there is such a thing as a bear cat. I don't even know if it's one word or 2.)

We left Wyatt at home with my mom since his bed time is 6:30. He would not have been much fun at a high school football game.

We all had birthday bash shirts to wear at the game.

And front row seats. The kids loved watching their Papa Bill out on the field.

I know this picture is blurry, but I love it. Someone is always holding Grandma's hand. She falls easily, so we take turns.

I love these boys. Dalke brothers.

There may have been a little wrestling match on the field after the game. And yes, that's my husband. I know...he's so mature. He'll always be a wrestler.

At the end of the night....this is what matters. The whole family, standing on Phil Dalke Field for a family photo. I must say, I'm proud to be a Dalke.
